THE BIG FINISH!!!!

Frank has officially FINISHED his very last chemo treatment as of monday of this week and the very last radiation treatment as of TODAY... he's feelin' a bit woozy today but has a great attitude as always and plans on feeling much, much better by next week.

WHAT'S NEXT you ask??

Well, in March of next year, once he has healed and everything is "back to normal"... he will go back to Kaiser in Santa Clara for one more body scan, to see if in fact the radiation and chemo did it's job.

KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED.

Thanks to everyone for there calls and support. We will be back in March to let you know about the scan results.

HAPPY FREAKIN' HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!! and make sure you hug and kiss your loved ones EVERY SINGLE DAY...

Hello folks!

This last week has really been a Bitch. I'm going to back it up to last Friday when I simply did not feel like going to work I just was worn out at the end of the week. The chemo treatment and the Radiation had just caught up with me and I was worn out. My mistake over the weekend was taking it easy. Marilyn tried to get me to eat and drink liquids but all I wanted to do was rest and sleep. (BIG MISTAKE) Monday when I went in for my radiation treatment they took one look at me and said you need Hydration NOW!!

I spent 12 hours Monday in Kaiser getting 5 liters of water put in me NOT FUN but Tuesday I was back feeling pretty good. I went in to work for about 3 hours Tuesday night and for a couple of hours on Wednesday. By Thursday I was feeling a whole lot better and able to both eat and drink liquids again. The ups and downs of this are definitely amazing but I will get through this. And once again thanks for all the support the text messages and e-mails are what keep me going I really do appreciate the support from my friends and family.

WEEK FOUR...

hello!!
sorry there were no updates from Week Three... it was a very crazy week with work and life, etc. but radiation treatments continued each day with no issues... frank still has a fantastic attitude and for the most part has just been a bit more tired than usual from all these treatments. starting monday the 16th (which also marks the halfway point for chemo treatments) he will receive his 2nd (and hopefully last) dose of chemo which will take him thru the next 3 weeks. if all goes well with this second round of chemo, that will be it and he will be done with all this @#$%.

fingers crossed! more to come...

END OF WEEK TWO...

Hello everyone I'm still hanging in there. Thursday I answered the phone all day at the shop and just plain talked too much (shocking...). I have to cut down on my talking, as my jaw was sore and after dinner I simply went to bed. Slept like a baby and Friday was Much Much better, relaxed and felt good. Radiation went Ok and I'm ready for the weekend. Also will meet with the Oncologist @ 4:00 this afternoon to review my first two weeks with Chemo. Basically up and down but finished better than the first week. Also on Thursday My Radiologist oncologist was at convention but his partner checked my mouth out and said all was OK.

END OF WEEK ONE...

DAY 4
Redwood City kaiser finally called and said (come on down) which I did and they took the Pic Line out of me. Yippeeee!! So all went well.
DAY 5
I went into get my morning dose of radiation and messed up, I was going to wear MY Captain Jack outfit, but I chickened out and wore my Bite Me T-shirt... the staff all had costumes on, but no Dracula. But all else went well. So far chapped lips, and rough skin on the inside of my mouth are really the only problems. I do get tired and definitely Grouchy in the PM, but the Grouchy part is normal, according to my employees.

Anyhow everyone have a nice Halloween and I'll be back on Monday.

DAY THREE...

I went to my radiation appointment on time (The Bay Bridge had fallen down at the repair spot) which caused more drama than was really necessary. I met with my nutritionist and my Radiologist and all is going OK. I finally got a response from my Oncologist which stated she would like the Pic line in, but would have it removed if I really wanted it out. I said I really wanted it out, and listed the many reasons why. Hopefully I will hear back from her tomorrow. Anyhow other than a little heartburn no nausea and food still tastes good.

POSTED BY FRANK...

Monday Oct.26th Radiation Appt. Kaiser Oyster Point all went well no issues Day 1 of 33. We went to Lowes and looked at Christmas decorations.
Then we went to my 11:00 Chemo therapy and the fun started. Just before we got their Kaiser Redwood City they lost all electric power to the complex. Then the generators kicked in to run the computers and the basic light systems. I was finally told the length of my first appointment 4 1/2 hours so after Marilyn picked up my meds at the pharmacy I was going to excuse her for the afternoon but then the auxiliary power went out which killed the computers. Then around noon the power came back on but smoke was coming out of the air conditioning vents. When that cleared up I sent Marilyn on her way for the afternoon. Then around 3:00 the nurse and I found out that in the morning the Radiation Doctor and My Oncologist had decided to change the procedures. But it had not yet got to the computer. So basically everything I was prepared for changed ( for the better) for me and that is a good thing. However now I am left with a Picc line in my arm that I no longer need and a E-Mail to the oncologist asking if it can be removed. I got out of their around 5:15 and went to my normal monthly meeting.
Day 2 I went to my Radiation treatment talked to the Dr. and Nurse about the change in procedure they said it would not effect them and that they were aware of it. No issues all good. Then we went to Mickey D's got usual breakfast and Monopoly game pieces and went home to relax for awhile. I still have not heard from my oncologist regarding the removal of the Picc line. However i did leave a message for the oncologist to call. Anyhow I have taken all my meds for the day and am heading to work soon.
